Yes, we all know Calton Hill is so beautiful because of the monuments it holds, but what would you think if I told you that the best sunsets are seen from there? Either sitting on the grass or under the Greek columns, it is more than just a good place for spending a spring afternoon in Edinburgh.

3. The Cumberland Bar

Located in the New Town and also holding a beer garden, it is not really known for students, although its cosy terrace makes it to deserve a place on our list. Well worth a visit!

How many times have you tried to climb up to the summit? I am sure you have done it several times, but did you know the nearby hills facing the firth are perfect for a picnic?

No one can say that Scotland hasn’t got a big variety of vegetation after visiting the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh.

With thousands of different specimens you are also allowed to lie in some of the grass fields, but it would be better to discover all the different vegetation, don’t you agree?

8. The Water of Leith Walkway

Either a cycling and foot walkway starting outside the city, it is perfect to discover lovely boroughs, such as Dean Village, with the path ending in Leith (so you can enjoy one of the liveliest quarters after your stroll). Highly recommended.

10. Summerhall

Plenty of activities await you in this humongous arts venue. Film, dancing, theatre, comedy… you will find lots of different things to do here. Moreover, you can relax in the nearby Meadows after everything!
