Top 5 Alternatives to nights out
If you’ve come to the UK not realising how club/alcohol orientated many events are, don’t worry there are definitely many alternatives to nights out here in Sheffield.
The perfect way to get away from hours of revision and lectures.
Did you know the university has its very own improv comedy society called the Shrimps? Keep an eye out to when their next show is as a good laugh is undeniably a great way to spend the night with friends. If you like the US comedy show ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway’, but want to see it with a British twist, then you MUST give this comedy club a go!
Right here in Sheffield’s city centre, you have The Great Escape escape rooms. This will hardly be a relaxing evening with friends but if you’re in the mood to uncover clues and discover secrets, this is the place for you. Check their website before you go as you can choose from a range of difficulties and scariness (Keep in mind that Halloween is coming up!)
A short tram stop away is Sheffield’s very own laser tag place. I went here with my friends and it was one of the best and most funny nights I’ve had. You’re first sent into this room where everyone loads up their gear and after being split into teams, you’re driven off into the battleground where you run around two floors trying to spot the enemy. This is great fun and definitely great exercise as well.
Watch out for the reslife newsletters as they occasionally hold movie nights in the Endcliffe hill. Projected onto a giant screen, bring along some blankets and snacks and enjoy. Not just in Endcliffe, but many clubs around the city host movie night as well! The next one coming up is a Home Alone viewing at The Leadmill, just in time for Christmas! Keep your eye out for many of these nights out.
Bar One, The Edge Bar and Nottingham house in Broomhill all do quiz nights on almost everything out there, from Harry Potter to Anime. If you don’t fancy them, they also do general knowledge! Grab a bunch of your friends and sign up for the occasionally quiz where you stand the chance to win a free bar tab and food! This is a great way to bond with your friends, my close friends now I met through randomly asking them out for a quiz night. Definitely worth a try.
